Hi Everyone,
First and foremost, I sincerely hope this finds you and your family well during this trying time of COVID-19.
I wanted to touch base to let you know about some of the work Yass FC has been undertaking while our 2020 season has been stalled. We have been working directly with Capital Football discussing various return to season models for 2020 - welcome news to everyone looking forward to playing football this year.
The sporting landscape as we know it has changed dramatically, and while we would love to share with you what the remainder of the season may look like, unfortunately, there is no crystal ball for what lies ahead. Some goods news amongst all of this - some restrictions were eased on Friday 15th May 2020 relating to a potential return to training. While it is only a small step, it is an exciting one for all lovers of football. Sadly however, this does not mean we can all rush straight back into training. Unfortunately, as Yass Football Club, we find ourselves in a unique position in that the governing body whose umbrella that we sit under (Capital Football ) is located in the ACT, and we are very much restricted to the guidelines that the NSW Government places on us all especially in regard to training.
As mentioned, on Friday the 15th May 2020, it was deemed that community sport is now able to resume training for groups of no more than 10 people (including the coach). However, there are a significant number of administrative processes that the committee need to complete before getting back to training can happen. We will be sending out the Yass FC Return to Football Guidelines information pack once it has been approved by Capital Football that will assist you with all the information needed to get back on the park.. We do thank you for your patience and support and we will advise coaches of the date that training can re-commence.
We do not know what the coming weeks will bring, but based on current information, and if restrictions continue to ease further, we may see the return of competition hopefully sometime in July. How long that season runs for and in what capacity is being discussed daily with Capital Football, and as soon as we have more information, we will certainly pass this on.
The first thing that Yass FC are looking at is that as the COVID situation continues to unfold, is that many players that registered at the start of the year may be reconsidering your circumstances and availability to continue with the season and may choose not to play this year. As a community club we totally understand this and support and respect the decision that is best for your circumstances and your families with regards to your health, safety and wellbeing. If you have in fact made this decision for either yourself or your child and are 100% certain that you will not be participating in the 2020 season, could you please send an email to me at president@yassfc.com.au so we can start the necessary administration processes. This also applies to those volunteers that had offered their time to coach/manage teams this year.
In the same way, we do understand that there are some players/families that do not want to make this decision until there is some more concrete information with regards to what the remainder of the season may look like. It is very important to understand that whatever the 2020 season looks like, it will not be what we have previously been accustomed to and will primarily be aimed at participation and getting back on the field. At this stage, if you are keen to continue on with the season (whatever that looks like) please sit tight, stay safe and wait to hear from us.
Finally, I would like to thank all members of the Yass FC committee for their continuous commitment to Yass FC and commend them on the time and effort they spend making the Yass FC Redbacks the football family we all love.
Take care.
Paul Jephcott
